M. FAHIM TOBUR

He was born in Istanbul on April 14, 1938 . After he graduated from Istanbul University , Faculty of Economics, Business Management – Finance Department, he worked as an inspector in Ziraat Bankasi between 1963-1975. He is still the Honorary Inspector of Ziraat Bankasi. At that time, he also studied at Barclays Bank International PLC in London for one year after being successful in the examinations.

Upon invitation, he joined KOC group in 1975 and became respectively Bekoteknik A.S. Ass. General Manager (1975-1980), Asil Celik Sanayi Ass. General Manager (1980-1981) and Ass. General Manager of Garanti Bankasi (1982-1984) in the same group.

After Garanti Bankasi was purchased by Dogus Group, he was designated as the Delegate Member and General Manager of Imar Bankasi, also owned by Dogus Group (1984).

In his short-termed duty in Imar Bankasi along with banking profession, he issued the first internationally accepted VISA Credit Card in Turkey .

After the bank was sold to UZAN Group, he was transferred to Iktisat Bankasi Group (1985). Along with acting as the Member of the Board of Directors of Iktisat Bankasi, he also acted as the Chairman of the Board of Directors and Delegate Member of Ergür Kablo ve Bakir Sanayi A.S. The Company, which was in financial crisis and which stopped its activities, became working in 3 shifts and started exporting activities in a very short term.

At this time, as the General Manager and Chairman of the Board of Directors of LOYTAS, he finished the construction of Laleli RAMADA hotel, which was a common project of Net Holding and Tura Turizm, and opened the hotel to service (1986).

He also participated to the realization of Ataköy Galleria projects as the Member of the Board of Directors of the companies. Along with this, he founded the first Department Store PRINTEMPS in Turkey and acted as the Delegate Member and the General Manager of Printemps Büyük Magazicilik A.S.

As the Gallaria Complex, including Printemps was purchased totally by Vakifbank-Emlak Bank, he again returned to Iktisat Group; acted as the president of foundation projects of SHOW TV and SHOW Radio and in a very short period like 9 months, the second private TV Station and Radio Station started broadcasting.

F. Tobur, who again returned to finance sector, founded Ege Leasing in BAYRAKTAR Group, during the period he acted as the Delegate Member and General Manager he also performed his duty as the Ege Bank Board of Directors Member. In the economical crisis in 1994 he became the head of EGE Bank and as the General Manager and Delegate Member he ensured that the Bank survived the crisis without any damages.

After his duties in Mepas, Almer Companies, he was designated as the EGS Investment Group's President and realized EGS Real Estate Investment Partnership and organized the Business Park project in the Yesilköy, World Trade Center complex (1997).

He completed all of the works including construction, financing and leasing of the workplaces of the first shopping mall project in Bucharest-Romania in a very short period like 15 months, which was a joint venture of FINANSBANK and BAYINDIR HOLDING. After this project, F. TOBUR, who was transferred to BAYINDIR Group, acted as the Member of the Board of Directors in Bayindirbank and Bayindir Group Finance Companies (1999) and after the Romanian Bank of the Group Banco Turco Romania was in crisis he acted as the General Manager and Chairman of the Board of Directors for this Bank for 6 months in the year 2000. After he returned to Turkey , he acted as the first professional General Manager of YKM (Yeni Karamürsel Magazalari). He also performed the opening of Galleria shop.

He assisted in preparation of Net Holding A.S., which was facing financial crisis at that time to Istanbul approach and ensured that communications with banks are realized (2003).

Fahim TOBUR, who is still continuing his duty as the member of the Board of Directors of Mina Turizm, Öncü Menkul Degerler A.S., Trabzon Serbest Bölge A.S., AGK A.S., is on one hand continuing his active professional life and on the other hand he has joined KARE organization in order to pass on the knowledge and experience he gained through these years to new comers and to share his knowledge with young executives in an interactive manner.
